About
Catherine McAuley College (CMC) is a co-educational Catholic secondary College located in Bendigo, Victoria. It was formerly known as Catholic College Bendigo.
Students in Years 7 – 9 study at the Coolock Campus in Junortoun, and Years 10 - 12 students at St Mary’s Campus in Central Bendigo. Our learning community strives to provide each young person with the best educational opportunities to experience personal success. As a fully-sponsored Mercy College we seek to live out the Mercy Education values of Compassion, Justice, Respect, Hospitality, Service and Courage.
In 2018 the College was renamed Catherine McAuley College in honour of Catherine McAuley; an amazing woman who lived the Gospel message with passion and commitment. She founded the Sisters of Mercy in Ireland in 1831 and established many foundations to educate and support women, children and the poor. Her work commenced In Dublin, where she grew up and less than 190 years later, more than 500 000 people work in Mercy ministries throughout the world.
In keeping with a new start, each College campus was also been renamed: the Junortoun Campus, became known as “Coolock” (to reflect Catherine McAuley’s early ministry at the Coolock Estate on the outskirts of Dublin) and the Barkly Street Campus was renamed “St Mary’s” to honour the name by which the College on that site was known for more than 100 years, prior to becoming Catholic College Bendigo.
At the newly renamed Coolock Campus in Junortoun, construction is well-underway on an innovative building to provide exciting learning spaces including Arts and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Students are expected to access the space by Term 3, 2018.
